Study: Government Assistance at Record High and Republicans promise to make it worse

Study: Government Assistance at Record High

New Yorkers lead pack in government benefits

Despite the fact that the situation in the country is so dire be cause of Bush's success there is ignorant Excessive rhetoric on Social Security and Obama's budget plan

If Republicans take over Congress, House Republican leader John Boehner says he will move to raise the Social Security retirement age to 70. Republicans Want to Raise Retirement Age to 70
GOP Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan had to leave his last and most raucous town hall meeting Tuesday Elvis-style — ducking out a back entrance on advice of police as protesters surrounded his car.

Ryan dodges protesters in police car

The elderly, needy, and average Americans are catching on. Republicans plan on screwing them over while keeping the tax cuts for the super wealthy. One sign said "tax the rich too" and they better. I think it is a must! During good times everybody can get more conversely during tight times we must tighten our belts that means like it or not giving up what we gained. Not just the elderly and the poor everybody "the rich too" Congress should also give up their perks to share the pain!

GOP Medicare Plan May Put 'Elderly Vote In Play' You mean will and it will defeat the Republicans despite their and the Billionaire Koch brothers efforts to keep gas prices high to defeat Obama in 2012.

It was a night of firsts when U.S. Rep. Allen West was amongst other things heckled: West to hecklers: 'You're not going to intimidate me'

Republicans are starting to get their just rewards and we must continue it until 2012 and get rid of them. As I said and you know, during tough times we all must sacrifice and pitch in not just the most vulnerable. Democrats understand this and they will make the responsible cuts and they will also stop the tax cuts to the super wealthy. Despite everything the Republicans have done to make Obama and the Democrats fail we better get them back in 2012 or we are in serious trouble. We discussed a couple weeks ago the $ millions they want to cut from the poor and needy while helping the super wealthy Here

Remember the "Unfunded Liabilities" Ruse: Under Bush the mainstream media had been parroting claims that the federal government, particularly the Social Security and Medicare programs, have dozens of trillions of dollars in "unfunded liabilities." For example, USA Today ran a long feature in early October 2004 that proclaimed that "the long-term economic health of the United States is threatened by $53 trillion in government debts and liabilities that start to come due in four years." Many other articles, news reports, and commentary have included comparable numbers that make the fiscal future look not just frightening but entirely unmanageable. Just put Bush's trillions in there and have a real hemorrhage.

These claims appear aimed at scaring us into making radical changes in our social insurance system for old people. But whatever the motivation, how scared should we be? What is true and what is phony about the alarms that fiscal disaster is looming just ahead? Unfunded Liabilities Ruse Social Security crisis heralded by Republicans for political gain, is it a crisis or a ruse? Imagine if we privatized it when he wanted to?

It is a frightening thought, discontinuing social security or even cutting social security, Medicaid, and Medicare. It is all millions have. I remember Romney when stumping for McCain saying it should be discontinued and the countries big enemy was the Democrats and their effort to take care of the elderly and the needy. Bush spent years cutting "unfunded liabilities" and trying to wipe out President Roosevelt's legacy. If the Republican's get back in they will do just that. All Democrats and all independents better make sure they come out in 2012 to get President Obama reelected, our future depends on it. If Republicans get back it the White House they are going to finish off average Americans and Bush's mis-agenda of destruction.

I say they can raise the retirement age when any one of them can sling a 90 lb. jackhammer when they're 68 or 69 years old.

I agree Bud, you learned that the hard way. They are so scary, they are lying now saying they are on the same page as Dems. Yeah until their lies get them in but people are learning.

Another worthy post for thought Jim, and Thanx for the Ryan escape from protestor's link, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh ... I'm a fairly decent judge of character and deal with alot of folk's is why probably, but Ryan is one that I never cared for much from day one, as far as listenig to him and that lil Ivy League type personality of him, difficult to explain, but I wouldnt trust that feller as far as I could throw him, I feel guy's like him, the only thing they missed in their childhood was a good ass whippin from their parent's, such a lil snotbag to me.

But I just done a posting kinda similar I reckon, as far as the choice's of voting, etc. I am actually conservative on some thing's Jim, and voted conservative most of my life, I stopped when Bush,Jr was running for his 2nd term actually. And when I voted for him the first time in 2000 I was only worried that he may be too religious, but never even expected the stunt's as far as money and war's that he pulled and the rest of the stuff, right there, he is the one who made me leave supporting any GOP folk's. When he was Gov of Texas he said nothin and done nothin and we were well off so that was fine by me, also understand that in Texas, Gov's dont have the power like in many state's, it's all the "people's" choice/ voice here, but it's a matter of "who" actually get's off their asses and "vote's" to be heard is the problem, if Texan's majority actually voted, this state would be more blue than the sky.

What really urk's me about some of this stuff Jim, is I for instance never once asked for gvmnt assistance or accepted any, even when I drew unemployment once a few year's ago (my employer who almost went bankrupt advised me to, when he had to lay me off after nearly 7 year's and over half the company) ... the unemployment told me I can file for food stamp's, but I told them I didnt want them, and didnt even draw out my full unemployment and was working again not long after is why. But the thing is Jim ... when I talk about this stuff to some ole boyz that are conservative, or protecting union's, etc protecting SSI, social service's, etc ... I sometime's get looked at as if I'm talking about socialism or such. I dont think alot of these republican folk's actually see what is happening too, and are just following a herd assemblyline way of thought instead. It is so clear what is going on here ... I call it of course a move to privatize America across the board. Obnce gvmnt service's fail, you still need them, so you have to privatize them to the biggest bidder, and you know who that is.

I'm actually a fiscally conservative type feller Jim and VERY pro business, but this anal shaft we are getting is so far from balanced business and free market it's almost funny that anyone can even buy this nonsense that their selling.

RC you're right about privatization, this widening the gap between the haves and have nots started under Bush and the GOP wants to get back to his plan (Reaganomics) and finish us and "our" America off. When Romney was stumping for McCain and I ever heard him say Dems social security and us wanting to help everyone was our biggest enemy I almost dropped and knew we were in serious trouble. Romney by the way is rumored to be the GOP front runner but I do believe Obama will be reelected.
