Arab states, Turkey plan 'No-Fly Zone' over Syria: What are they thinking? Syria is not and will not be another Libya

Turkish premier urges Syrian leader to step down: Erdogan’s call, his first explicit demand for Assad’s resignation, reinforces a Nov. 14 demand from King Abdullah of Jordan for new leadership in Syria, where Assad’s crackdown on eight months of protests has left thousands dead.

He reminded Assad of the bloody end of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and those of past dictators, including Adolf Hitler."If you want to see someone who has fought until death against his own people, just look at Nazi Germany, just look at Hitler, at Mussolini, at Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania," he said. "If you cannot draw any lessons from these, then look at the Libyan leader who was killed just 32 days ago." World leaders are turning on Assad in quick succession. The military crackdown on an 8-month-old uprising against Assad's regime has killed nearly 4,000 people.

Arab states, Turkey plan 'No-Fly Zone' over Syria: Senior European sources said that Arab jet fighters, and possibly Turkish warplanes, backed by American logistic support will implement a no fly zone in Syria's skies, after the Arab League will issue a decision, under its Charter, calling for the protection of Syrian civilians.

The sources told Kuwait's al Rai daily that the no fly ban will include a ban on the movement of Syrian military vehicles, including tanks, personnel carriers and artillery, adding that this move would aim at curbing the movement of Assad forces, and cripple their ability to bomb cities. The European sources said the no fly ban might lead to the paralysis of the Syrian regime forces "in less than 24 hours."

We do not seem to be smart enough to realize that Libya was a "one and out situation" Russia and other world leaders who did not agree with our interference stayed on the side lines. You can bet Russia and Iran are not going to sit idly by this time. Syria means too much to both of them.

Bashar killed indiscriminately until he created an armed revolt. Now he has created a civil war which he says he will crush. I am just so sick of all this crap going on here, in the US, and around the world. Sadly it will get much worse as anarchy and world war is our future.

That said, knowing Russia has sent warships to Syria to ensure that there is no out side interference as Assad crushed the Democracy loving people I do not understand how Bashar can stupidly say he will not let Russia get in his way. He is fooling no one. According to Russian sources, the recent move conveys the message that Moscow will block any NATO-led attack under the guise of “humanitarian intervention,” The Nation reported. Russia has been voicing support for Syria, which it says is currently going through a civil war.

That will leave Iran and Syria to crush this revolt by the people and they will unless the entire majority of the Syrian Army revolts and joins the protesters and their brothers in arms that already have.Syrians are going to have to do this themselves unless WW3 is the goal. I am afraid that, that will be the case once someone gets the war with Iran out in the open. Weeping it from becoming WW3 is the best we can hope for but Russia sending war ships over there makes me wonder.

This is all our fault after more than a century of interference in the Middle East and Africa. Bush set it all in motion by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!

You know I firmly believe and have said so a million times by now that since 9/11 everything was construed to allow Bush to gain the power he needed to prosecute his new order not just in the Middle East but on the entire world! He diverted from Afghanistan to get back into the Middle East with the goal of setting up a larger safety zone for Israel and going after Iran. Both will fail! It has long been my contention that coming to Israel's aid once they attack Iran will be our in to Iran!

The entire middle east and north Africa and our more than century of interference and exploitation can take the blame for that too. Planting our military in the middle of the mess Bush has created out of the Middle East because of his failed Democratization program is going to be a Custer's Last Stand on a grand scale if we are still there when this breaks open! Looking at the war cabinet Obama has amassed I am going to say at this point that this is going to happen even under a President Obama.

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Iran is not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

I think you're looking at this from the wrong perspective Jim. This isn't a war of ideologies. This is a purely corporate nation maneuver. Think of this as corporate wars. Russia would like nothing better than to establish a route for its' oil and gas pipelines. Once we leave Iraq they will (if they already haven't) establish a deal with Iraq. That would only leave Syria which they can't have until something is resolved. If we go in and win it for democracy then Syria would have closer ties to the U.S. and no pipeline could be built. Russia always being land locked has always looked for a solution.

Yeah that pipeline. It sickens me but everything boils down to oil and other natural resources. Siding with the people who have had enough is just a way to look righteous and get your hands on the resources. Everything bites us in the end, I just can't stand it.
